Tutorial on Second Order Systems - Part 1


This will give you practice in dealing with RLC circuits. Consider the circuit below.

The switch has been closed for a long time. The switch is opened at t = 0. It is necessary to find i(t) for t > 0. First, let's find initial and final conditions (the boundary values).

What is i(0-)? This is the current just before the switch is opened.
