Animations
Packaged with every book is a CD-ROM that contains over 30 full color animations of important concepts from the text such as cold rolling, p-type semiconductors, point defects, 110 planes, 111 planes, close packed structures, close packed slip, creep, Zincblende structure, dislocations, hypereuctectoid, hypoeutectoid, mixed dislocation, NaCl Lattice, Pearlite, precipitation hardening, polarization, etc. Each animation is tied to a concept from the book, with an icon in the book to link the CD to each chapter.

Phase Diagram Tutorial
Since students have difficulty learning phase diagrams, a series of interactive tutorials are provided to allow the students to better visualize isomorphous and eutectic phases. Students will be asked to answer questions about the composition, temperature and number of phases present for various on-screen situations. The phase diagram multimedia tool will drive home important concepts and build studentsí confidence.

Figure Database
Over 100 photos and figures from the book are included in the CD for the instructor's use in providing overheads for lecture or to print out.
