This graph shows the population patterns of physical activity in the United States. The states with higher prevalence of physical activity tend to be clustered out west, whereas the most inactive states tend to be clustered in the southeast.
The levels of physical activity were categorized as levels of risk because of the established links between physical activity and health. The fact that a state is listed as “high risk” does not imply that individuals within the state are at risk. It simply indicates that differences exist in activity patterns across states.
