Occupational Physical Activity
In a famous epidemiological study by Dr. Jeremy Morris, bus conductors who climbed stairs to collect tickets from passengers had lower rates of dying than the more sedentary bus drivers
Notes:
Lifestyle physical activity can include activity accrued as part of occupational tasks. The study described in this study demonstrated that the act of taking stairs on a regular basis led to differences in health, and mortality. While it is not easy for office workers to completely change the nature of their work environment, taking stairs on a regular basis is certainly a good habit to get into to promote additional physical activity.
