About the Author
Richard A. Magill
has been a faculty member at Louisiana State University for 22 years. He is
the Helen "Bessie" Silverberg Pliner Professor of Kinesiology and holds an appointment
in the Department of Psychology. Magill earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology
from Florida State University and his M.Ed. in Health and Physical Education
from Temple University.
Magill has served as Editor-in-Chief of Research
Quarterly for Exercise and Sport and is an Active Fellow in the American
Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education. His research concerns motor skill
acquisition processes and influences, especially forms of instruction, augmented
feedback, and practice schedules. He has authored or co-authored more than 75
articles in research journals, including the Research Quarterly for Exercise
and Sport, Journal of Motor Behavior, and Quarterly Journal of Experimental
Psychology, and chapters in edited books. Magill has also given more than
80 invited presentations at national and international meetings.
