- El Niño Theme Page
An interactive web site dedicated to the basics, updated forecasts and relevant data about the ocean-atmosphere phenomenon of El Niño and the Southern Oscillation. http://www.pmel./noaa.gov/tao/elnino/nino-home.html (Added: Tue Feb 18 2003)
- National Data Buoy Center
Access to hundreds real time weather and water observations for marine and the Great Lakes including wave height, wave period and water temperature. http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ (Added: Tue Feb 18 2003)
- NODC (Levitus) World Ocean Atlas 1998
The atlas contains annual, seasonal, and monthly long term means for temperature and salinity at multiple depths. http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/cdc/data.nodc.woa98.html (Added: Sun Sep 19 2004)
- North Atlantic Oscillation
Another natural oscillator in the global climate system. http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/tiempo/floor2/data/nao.htm (Added: Tue Feb 18 2003)
- Ocean Surface Topography
The TOPEX/Poseidon joint project between NASA and CNES to map ocean topography has provided nine years of data. Included in the vast data set are eight major groups of data describing sea level to 5 centimeters, ocean topography, seasonal current change, large-scale ocean phenomena such as Rossby and Kelvin waves and El Niño/ La Niña events, ocean circulation, oceanic heat storage, global tidal maps and the Earths gravity field. http://topex-www.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/topex.html (Added: Tue Feb 18 2003)
- Precision Oceanographic Instruments
Sea-Bird Electronics, Inc is the largest manufacturer of marine instruments for measurement of salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, and related oceanographic variables. http://www.seabird.com/ (Added: Sun Sep 19 2004)
