Each of these components is designed to give students an opportunity to improve and develop the ways in which they express mathematical ideas.

Each exercise set contains exercises that are keyed to examples, as well as exercises that are not keyed to examples. The end-of-chapter Review Exercises identify those that are not keyed to an example as "Miscellaneous" exercises.
