Chapter Opener
Each chapter begins with a chapter opener that discusses a real application of algebra. The discussion is accompanied by a photograph and, in most cases by a real-data application graph that helps students visualize algebra and more fully understand the concepts discussed in the chapter. Each chapter opener features a real world situation that can be modeled using mathematics. Each chapter contains exercises that relate back to the chapter opener.
