Reviews

Need more reasons to use Elementary Statistics: A Step by Step Approach 4e? Check out these reviews by professionals in the field . . .

Ashis K. Gangopadhyay - Boston University

The primary strength of the book is in its clarity of presentation. Each chapter contains numerous examples, many graphs, and snapshots, which will allow students to develop an appreciation for the subject.

The author has devoted an enormous amount of time and effort in developing the book, and it shows.

Jeff Mock - Diablo Valley College

The four color of Bluman makes this text easy to read and motivating to the student.

As far as comparing it with others on the market, I have to still rank Bluman #1.

Donald K. Mason—Elmhurst College

Probably the greatest strength is the authors use of the 5 step methodology . . . it is helpful particularly for weaker students. That idea clearly sets the book off from the competition.

David J. French - Tidewater Community College

The author has used the straightforward process of providing a situation, explaining the formulas, and finding the solutions. The order of these processes is important to the beginning statistics student.

I must say this is an excellent text. I like the way the author has questions in the beginning of each section that make the students think followed up with applications of the processes and objectives. Great job!

Susan C. Schott - University of Central Florida

The most important goal for me is for the student to become more statistically literate. Of most importance to them, is to be able to communicate with a statistician when doing any research and to understand the impact of statistics in their everyday lives. Bluman does a very good job of achieving these goals.

Kathleen R. Fritsch - University of Tennessee at Martin

Overall, the text is very readable and the examples are easy to follow. I like the excerpts from USA Today and other newspaper articles.

Jane Keller - Metropolitan Community College

I think this is a very good text. The writing is clear, concise, and detailed. There are excellent and sufficient examples.

Robert L. Horuath - El Camino College

The level of presentation is excellent. This is why both students and instructors like the text.

The formulas and problem-solving procedures are easy for students to follow.

The strengths are the authors clear writing style, easy to use tables, and easy to use statistical formulas.
