| Allen G. Bluman |
Allan G. Bluman is presently teaching mathematics at the South Campus of the Community College of Allegheny County, located near Pittsburgh. He was first employed in 1967 at the rank of instructor and is now Professor of Mathematics. He has taught most of the mathematics courses at South Campus from developmental mathematics through calculus and statistics. As a part-time instructor for the Pennsylvania State University at the McKeesport and New Kensington campuses, he has taught teacher-certification and graduate education and statistics courses. Prior to his college teaching, he taught mathematics for three years at McKeesport Junior High School.
He received his B.S. from California State College in California, Pennsylvania in 1964, his M.Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1966, and his Ed.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. His major field was mathematics-education.
He has published several professional articles and a book entitled Modern Math Fun Book published by Cuisenaire Publishing Company. His most recent publication is the textbook on this web site, Elementary Statistics, A Step by Step Approach, published by McGraw-Hill Publishing. He has been a speaker and presider at local and national mathematics conferences and has served as Newsletter Editor for the PSMATYC organization. He is a member of MCWP, PSMATC, PADE, NCTM, ASA, and the McKeesport Toastmasters.
He is married and has two children. His hobbies include writing, bicycling, and swimming.
