Chapter 1: Frameworks

Overview
This chapter examines two very different approaches to answering a question posed by people everywhere: "Where did I come from?" The sources and goals of traditional explanations, known as creation myths, are contrasted with the approaches and objectives of science. The scientific method’s reliance on careful observation and rigorous testing of hypotheses is explained. Finally, the science that has humanity as its focus – anthropology – is introduced.
