Worksheet 6-3 Microcinema

There are dozens of microcinema sites on the Web. Most accept and then distribute people’s film and video productions at no cost. Of course, the sites do expect some return for their services. Try your hand at becoming a successful microcinema producer or director. Who knows, you may create the next Blair Witch Project.

  1. How many different microcinema sites did you find? In your opinion, what were some of the better ones in terms of their service to film and video makers? List three microcinema URLs and explain why you think they are good.



  2. Offer a microcinema site a piece of film or video that you produced. Even home video will suffice, but perhaps you have a production you made in class. Describe the experience of having your content accepted and experienced.

    3. Was specific software for digital transformation and sending required by the site? What was it? Did you already have the necessary software or did you have to acquire it? Was it freely downloaded from the site or did you have to get it another way?



    4. Was your content accepted? Distributed?



    5. Did the site offer a way to determine how often your material had been accessed by others on the Web? If so, what was it?

  1. Describe your overall reaction to the microcinema experience. The Internet has the power to turn audience members into producers. Describe your feelings about having made the leap.
