Worksheet 7-3 Online Radio

As your text explained, there are thousands of online radio stations and they come in three forms – radio simulcast, Web-only radio, and interactive Web-only radio. Using either the sites identified in the text or your own Web skills, access one station of each type. Then answer the following questions (if a question makes no sense for a particular type of operation, just write N/A for not applicable).

Online radio  type selected:

  1. What is the URL?

  2. How did you find it?

  3. Where does the station operate geographically?

  4. Does it acknowledge its geographic location? In what ways?

  5. Describe the station’s format.

  6. What part did you play in determining that format?

  7. Was there advertising? if yes, in what form (e.g., audio, on-screen, etc.)?

  8. Was there an effort by the site to collect demographic data from you? If yes, describe it.

  9. What special content or activities were available to you, as a member of the Web, as opposed to over-the-air, audience?

  10. How would you characterize the ease-of-use of the station?

  11. What is your general level of satisfaction with listening to "radio" on this site? Explain.
