Watch some children’s television shows and the commercials that pay for those programs; then answer the following questions:

  1. What kind of information (lessons) can children learn from the programming content? What cultural impact could these lessons create?

Evaluate one of the program’s commercials by answering the following questions:

  1. What product was being advertised? Is this product a necessity or a luxury?


  2. How was the product "packaged" to be most appealing to children viewers?


  3. Did the message seem honest? Did it give the appropriate type of information to make an informed purchasing decision? Please be specific.


  4. Can or should children ever be concerned with making purchasing decisions? That is, should advertising to children even be allowed? Why or why not?
