Worksheet 15-3 The BBC (or other national broadcasting service)

If you are fortunate enough to be able to read a language other than English, access the site of a broadcasting service of another country. If you can read only English, visit the official Web site of the BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk). Then answer these questions.

  1. What was your chosen Web site? Its URL?

  2. Describe the general look and feel of this site. What links did it offer?

  3. Find and describe the service’s philosophy of broadcasting. How consistent is it with how you think American noncommercial broadcasting operates? With American commercial broadcasting?

  4. Follow the site’s links to the page that allows you to contact the broadcasting service you’ve chosen. Ask a question or two, maybe inquiring as to how this service compares itself to its home country’s commercial broadcasting services. What question did you ask? What was the response if any?
