Inherited Disorders and Birth Defects

Choose an inherited disorder or genetic or chromosomal birth defect to research; possible choices include sickle cell disease, Tay-Sachs disease, cystic fibrosis, thalassemia, Down syndrome, and hemochromatosis. If possible, choose a disorder that has occurred in your own family or in the family of someone you know or a disorder that is particularly common among people with your ethnic background. Try one or more of the following sites, use the links for Chapter 8, or do a search to locate basic information about the disorder.
