Finding Magic Solutions

The screen for "Indians of North America bibliography" in OhioLINK Central Catalog displays more than 150 bibliographies!

By the way, I realize that "North America" leaves "South America" out of the picture. Bear with me for a moment. Finding the best, broadest subject heading is not always easy. Remember, I chose this subject area because of the challenges it poses. We will soon find our way among this maze of library holdings.

Notice that the OhioLINK Central search engine is not case-sensitive. That is, you may ignore capital letters and search for "indians of north america bibliography"; the search engine will treat lower-case and upper-case letters as equivalents.

We've arrived at another moment of seeming hopelessness. If there are more than 150 lists of books and articles about North American Indians, how can we ever hope to master even a limited topic in this subject area?

Here's another life preserver: Remember, we are interested in recent developments in this field. The OhioLINK Central search engine will let us perform a bit of magic. We can use its "Limit" function to find only recent bibliographies. First, click on the heading "Indians of North America - - Bibliography" so that our screen displays the first page of the 150+ entries. Now click "Limit/sort." In the next screen's field labeled "Year of publication--after," type "1995." Finally, click "Limit/sort items retrieved . . ."
