Recording "Magic Solutions" for Later Use

A search for "magic solutions" published after 1995 produces a nice short list of guides to sources. In addition, the OhioLINK catalog lets us perform another bit of technological magic. When the "Limit/sort" search produces its short list of bibliographies, click in the "Mark" box to indicate that you want to save one or more catalog entries. (To appreciate this feature, it helps to be old enough to remember what it was like to copy catalog entries by hand!) Next, click "Save Marked Records" to place these items in OhioLINK Central's temporary memory. (If you don't do this on each screen you visit, these records will be "forgotten" as soon as you move to another screen.) Notice that after you save the marked records, two new menu items appear: "View Marked Records" and "Clear Marked Records." Finally, click "View Marked Records" to see the items we've chosen, enter an e-mail address in the dialog box, and click "Submit" to send these library catalog entries anywhere in the world! Notice, too, that you can download catalog entries using Pro-Cite or End-Note software which automatically creates bibliography entries in MLA and many other formats!

I can't resist saying it: the farsighted information specialists in the state of Ohio have created an on-line paradise for library research. I'm proud of my home state. Before I embarrass myself, let's move on.
