Chapter 16 The Demographic Evolution of Human Populations
This chapter explores the study of populations (demography) from an evolutionary perspective. Specifically, this chapter explains the research interests of Biological Anthropologists when studying population patterns, including reproduction and survival patterns, migration, population growth and the effects of economics on the age-sex structure of the population. Future population growth in modern humans is addressed, as is a discussion of how cultural adaptations may relax selective pressures on modern human populations.
