About the Author

Steven Schwartz is the current President of Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. After receiving his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Syracuse University in New York, he moved to Northern Illinois University where, for four years, he taught abnormal psychology to undergraduates as well as in the clinical psychology program and consulted in child psychopathology at the Village of Progress Child Center. He then moved to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he performed clinical work and research in child psychopathology and trained clinical psychology interns.

Dr. Schwartz has been a visiting professor at Harvard and Stanford Universities and has also taught clinical psychology in the graduate program at the University of Western Australia and the University of Queensland, where he was also Director of the Psychology Clinic. His other posts have included President of the Academic Board and Professor and head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Queensland, and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Australia. Dr. Schwartz is one of only a handful of non-medically trained professors to ever serve as the Dean of a medical school.  [Next Page]
