Adjectives modify nouns or pronouns. They usuallyprecede the words they modify but they may follow them, separated from thosewords by a form of the verb be or asubsititute such as seems or feels.
the hot waterthe water is hot
the water feels hot
Two important types of adjectives are determinersand participial adjectives.
Adjectives can appear in the positive, comparative,or superlative degree.
small [positive]smaller [comparative]
smallest [superlative]
