Place each footnote at the bottom of the page on which the reference occurs, and, if possible, avoidcontinuing the note onto the following page. Begin the note four lines--two double-spacedlines--below the last line of text. Indent the first line of each notefive spaces or one standard tab (one-half inch), and begin the note with the superscript numberwithout punctuation. Footnotes are single-spaced with a double space between them.
