Sentences Beginning with There

If your sentence begins with there and the subject follows the verb, youneed to pay special attention to subject-verbagreement. If the noun following thereis singular, the verb should be singular.

Unacceptable

Acceptable

There has been much advancement in prostheses in recentyears.

If the noun following there is plural, the verb should be plural.
