Chapter 16 An explanation of superluminal motion

Component B, moving at nearly the speed of light, almost keeps up with the light it emits in our direction. Light it emits when it is 5 light years from component A arrives only a year after the light it emits when it is next to component A. We see it appear to move across the line of sight much faster than it would if it weren't moving toward us.
