Chapter 17 The future of expansion

For dense, positively curved models, the universe eventually begins to contract. Lower density, flat or negatively curved universe models expand forever. Because flat and negatively curved universes are infinite in size (but grow larger) it is simpler to talk about how a typical scale factor (say, the distance between clusters of galaxies) changes with time than to talk about the size of the universe.
