Summary
Aldehydes (RCHO) and ketones (RCOR') are very important
functional groups, characterised by the presence of an acyl group (C=O)
bonded either to H (aldehydes) or another C (ketones).
There are two contrasting, but equally important reactivity
patterns for these compounds:
