Our theories of why things act the way they do are often based on “ideal” situations. These situations are often more predictable and are easier to understand. The Ideal Gas Law is also based on a fictitious, but predictable gas. The assumptions used to construct the law are summarized in the Kinetic Molecular Theory of Gases.
