JP Lenney, Publisher
Before joining McGraw-Hill in June of 1997, JP Lenney worked for Learning Outcomes, a small on-line educational publishing company. Prior to that, he served for four years as Editor-in-Chief of PWS Publishing Company. There he led a publishing team in the fields of Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science, as well as directing the New Media development group.

Previously, JP was Executive Editor for Earth Sciences at Mosby-YearBook, Inc., where he started new product lines in geography and geology. There he signed a number of successful titles which later became a part of the McGraw-Hill Geosciences list.

JP began his publishing career at Allyn and Bacon, where he managed the company's psychology list for five years. Prior to that, he worked as a field sales representative. JP has exceeded his acquisitions and publication goals every year he has been in the publishing business. He has a B.A. from Holy Cross College in Worcester Massachusetts and an M.A. in Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Daryl Bruflodt, Sponsoring Editor
Daryl Bruflodt received a BA degree in mathematics in 1988 from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He worked as an actuary for the Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa for 18 months before returning to school. Daryl received an MA degree in mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa in 1991. After teaching mathematics at Wartburg College and Hawkeye Community College, he joined Wm. C. Brown Publishers as a developmental editor for the mathematics list in January 1994. In November 1995, he became the developmental editor for the geology list. In April 1997 he was promoted to associate sponsoring editor for the geography list within the newly formed McGraw-Hill Higher Education division of The McGraw-Hill Companies. With his April 1999 promotion to sponsoring editor, he took on the additional responsibility for the agriculture and forestry lists. In October 1999 he moved over to become the sponsoring editor for Physics, Astronomy, and Statistics.

Outside of work, Daryl and his wife keep busy raising their son and daughter. He enjoys reading, cooking, listening to any kind of music, and can often be found in the crowd at area sporting events.

Lori Sheil, Developmental Editor-Physics and Astronomy
Lori graduated cum laude from Loras College with a BA in English Literature, English Writing, and Business. During college, she gained experience as an editorial intern at both Ball Publishing in Geneva, Illinois and WCB/McGraw-Hill in Dubuque, Iowa. Upon graduation, she briefly worked as a editor for the International Engineering Consortium in Chicago, Illinois. Lori joined the McGraw-Hill geoscience team in October 1998 as an Editorial Coordinator and in March 1999 was promoted to Developmental Editor. In January 2000, she moved over to become the developmental editor for the physics and astronomy lists. She loves the challenges of her job, but most importantly, enjoys the crazy antics of her coworkers.

In her spare time, Lori enjoys spending time with her husband Andy and chasing after their son Nathan. She also loves to swim, camp, and play the french horn.

Mary Haas, Developmental Editor-Physics and Statistics
Mary graduated magna cum laude from Loras College in Dubuque, IA with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Business. She gained experience in the publishing world by working for Carlisle Communications, a prepress compositor, while attending college. She also worked for a desktop publisher from 1991 to 1993. From 1993 to 1997, she worked in product development for Kendall/Hunt Publishing. In March of 1997, she joined McGraw-Hill as a production supervisor in the EDP group. She has just recently become a developmental editor for the physics/statistics team.

Away from work, Mary is currently completing business and accounting classes to prepare for the MBA program. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Matt, and their Jack Russell Terrier, Sammy. She is also an avid golfer and plays in the city rec volleyball league.

Jenni Lang, Editorial Assistant
Jenni started working for McGraw-Hill in the Account Management Department in October of 1998. In December of 1999 she started working as Editorial Assistant for Physics, Astronomy, Statistics, Geology, and Geography.

She graduated from Northeast Iowa Community College in May of 1998 with a degree in Marketing Management. She plans on attending Clarke College in the fall of 2000 to further her education. In her free time she enjoys playing softball, volleyball, and spending time with family and friends.

Deb Besler, Marketing Manager
Graduate of the University of Iowa, this fervent Hawkeye fan knows the perils of a college science education and what students are going through as they take the tough science courses. Having studied biomedical engineering for 2 1/2 years then "converting to the soft stuff" over to Communications Studies. I know full well what the "C" students have and are suffering through -- hence my mission in life: to create textbooks and educational materials that students can actually LEARN and succeed from.

My other missions in life include my feisty 5 year old daughter who is pushing her mother into early hair-coloring .. ; as well as road cycling and running.

Kasey Keating, Intern
Kasey joined the Physics, Astronomy, Statistics, Geology, and Geography groups as an Editorial Intern in March of 2000. She currently attends the University of Dubuque, and will graduate in December 2000 with a major in English and a minor in Philosophy. She plans to attend Loyola University (Chicago) School of Law in the fall of 2001. She likes to spend her free time with her friends and family. She also enjoys playing tennis and volleyball.

Diane Welp, Marketing Assistant
I started working at McGraw-Hill in January of 1998 after several years of working in Health Care. I returned to school, graduated and began my employment at McGraw-Hill in the Account Management Department. In January of 1999, I started working as the Marketing Assistant for Math, Stats, Physics, and Astronomy.

My interests include spending time with my family and most any outdoor activity.

Since I have been with the company I have met a lot of terrific people and I look forward to being of assistance to you in the future.
