About "Newton's Laws and Friction"

4.8 Newton's Laws and Friction.

This simulation, based on figure 4.39 (problems 4.45 and 4.46), shows the influence of mass and friction on the accelerated motion of a sliding block acted on by a given force. The on-screen motion should approximate the actual real-time acceleration on most computers. Note that the use of ice as the surface for the zero-friction case is not intended to be realistic. The pulley is assumed to be frictionless.
