22.6 Locating Images by Ray Tracing


Following the technique described in section 22.6, this simulation shows the location of images formed by converging and diverging lenses. The location of the image formed depends on the object distance, the type of lens, and the focal length of the lens. As in figure 22.18, three lines are drawn from a point on the object (which is treated as if it were a planar object). The white lines in the simulation correspond to the broken black lines in the book's illustration. The white squares represent the focal points of the lenses. See also figures 22.19 and 22.20.
