4.7 Some Applications of Newton's Laws Simple Machines: Pulleys

 

Explanation: This applet is an extension of the Atwood machine discussed in Section 4.7. Note that when the pulleys are frictionless, the tension in a string is the same throughout the string. Verify the relationship between the rightmost mass in each system and the other masses.  You can use Newton's second law of motion to determine the acceleration.
