Chapter 12: Adjectives
Chapter Summary
Adjectives add color and variety to sentences. Writing would be dull and vague without them. Adjectives are words that describe nouns or pronouns. The various types of adjectives include limiting, descriptive, possessive, proper, and demonstrative. Each of these has a unique purpose.
Most descriptive adjectives have three degrees of comparison-positive, comparative, and superlative. The guidelines that are outlined in this chapter are helpful for forming adjective comparisons.
Nouns and verbs form the core of a sentence; however, as you learn in Chapter 12, a careful selection of appropriate adjectives provides the details that add variety and specificity to make writing more interesting.
