Student Resources Chapter 8: Sources of Information Chapter Summary A businessperson can use several sources to research information, including books, magazines, journals, newspapers, television, and videos. The types of books usually used in a workplace include books by experts, biographies, "how-to" guides, and fiction. Books are often provided for training, background information, or motivation. Magazines are a good source of information on current events and business markets. Journals provide information that is specific to particular fields and generally include the latest studies, innovations, and breakthroughs that pertain to those fields. Newspapers provide information on both local and international news and world financial markets. Television stations often show programs on finance and business, interviews with experts, and general news. Videos are useful for giving information, such as safety information or training, to groups. These sources of information often include visual aids, including tables, graphs, charts, pictures, and maps, to reinforce thoughts and ideas.
