Student Resources Chapter 9: Evaluating Information in the Workplace Chapter Summary Evaluating both non-electronic and electronic material is critical for acquiring accurate information. When evaluating non-electronic data, consider the published material's copyright and sources, as well as possible biases that may be present. When evaluating electronic information, consider the author or creator, sponsor, and copyright. The reliability of the information given, including quantitative data, should be evaluated, as should its validity and credibility. Information triangulation, the process of gathering data from at least three independent, reliable, valid, and credible sources, is a useful method for ensuring the accuracy of gathered information.
