FAQs/Feedback: Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How is this site different from the book?
A: This site has a variety of features that complement the book. The Student Resources section offers Chapter Links, interactive activities, Career Directions articles, Skill Checks, and Pop Quizzes for each chapter. The Pop Quizzes are different from the questions you'll be receiving on tests; the interactive activities include Crossword Puzzles and Drag-n-Drop Activities to reinforce chapter content and new vocabulary; and the Chapter Links include links to more information about the Net Advantage and Career Directions features, as well as the Strategies at Work scenario, and additional links. The General Resources section of the Web site offers interactive activities and additional information on topics such as How to Succeed in College, Self-Assessment, Career Development, Study & Test-Taking Skills, and Life Skills.
Q: Will I be graded on the practice test?
A: Although your instructor has the option of asking students to e-mail test results to him or her, you do not have to be graded. In many instances, these tests serve as practice for you before you take an in-class exam.
Q: One of the links is dead, and my assignment is due tomorrow. What do I do?
A: Contact the Webmaster and give a full description of the dead link and where it appears on the Web site. Since there are several Web sites given for each topic, it is likely that at least one of the other sites is still working, so try the other links. Sometimes links "play dead" due to server problems. Before you contact anyone, try the link again ten minutes later. If it still fails to work, it is most likely dead.
Q: A few of the Chapter Links are a little bit different from the way that they are described in the textbook. Why is this?
A: Since the Web is constantly changing, links die or move all the time. Because change on the Internet in uncontrollable, we will update older links with newer ones when necessary in order to provide you with similar but more current material.
