Chapter 12 - Digital Systems

Chapter Overview
Most digital devices we use every day are digital systems, such as handheld calculators, digital wristwatches, or even digital computers. Calculators, digital clocks, and computers are assemblies of subsystems. Typical subsystems might be adder/subtractors, counters, shift registers, RAMs, ROMs, encoders, decoders, data selectors, clocks, and display decoder/drivers.

You have already used most of these subsystems. This chapter discusses various digital systems and how they transmit data. A digital system is formed by the proper assembly of digital subsystems.
