Chapter 16 - Residential Wiring Concepts
Chapter Overview
Electrical codes must be followed
when installing a residential wiring system.
Following these codes helps ensure a safe and dependable
system.
Newer devices such as ground-fault circuit interrupters
and arc-fault circuit interrupters reduce the likelihood
of electrical shocks and fires. They can be installed to
protect an entire branch circuit.
Multipoint control of a load, such as a lamp, is a great
convenience. It can be provided by full-voltage switching
using 3-way and 4-way switches, or low-voltage control systems
using latching relays, or electronic control circuits responding
to coded radio frequencies.
