Chapter 16 - Digital Signal Processing

Chapter Overview
Digital signal processing is a very popular technology. Thanks to the advances being made in integrated circuits and software development tools, DSP can only become more popular as time goes on. Although this technology can appear magical , the amazing thing is that the processes inside DSP chips are mostly based on multiplication and addition. Of course, these operations are only possible with samples of signals that are in the form of binary numbers. Thus, DSP involves: (1) converting continuous signals to binary numbers, (2) crunching the binary numbers in a DSP, and (3) converting the crunched binary numbers back into a continuous signal.
