Chapter 10 has been completely revised. Complex topics have been simplified and the chapter summary has been shortened to convey more basic information. Additional changes include:

• Consistent use of terminology for NAD/NADH, NADP/NADPH, and FAD/FADH2 redox couples throughout the text and figures.

• The addition of a section on enzymes and energy transfer to provide basic information about plant metabolism.
  

• New summary table for ATP production in cellular respiration.
  

• New section on secondary metabolism.
