More color: 70% of the images
are in color, up from 53% in the second edition.
New chapter ending timelines:
Chapter summaries as well as ideal study aides, the timelines list every piece
of art from the chapter, along with concurrent cultural events and thumbnails
of the most significant artworks.
Non-western essays: Five
full-page "Beyond the West" essays have been added to the text to
introduce students to the art of the world outside of the Western canon. These
essays have been added at points of cross-cultural contact (Africa and the European

chronological narrative of the text.
