Calvin Photographic Collection

This site reproduces the photographic collection of Samuel Calvin, a
professor of natural sciences at the University of Iowa (1873-1911) and
a state geologist, who along with his colleagues, produced some 10,000
gelatin dry plates and glass plate negatives which were used to illustrate
specific geological features for class instruction, public lectures,
and publications. These photos document Iowa's geological landscapes
and features, including mines, quarries, mills, and other buildings.

" What is a Print?" is a Museum of Modern Art produced Web site devoted to the
craft and art of woodcuts, etchings, lithographs, and screenprints. An animated
graphics program takes the visitor through the printing process for each form
and is accompanied by examples drawn from the collection. Accompanying text describes
the history of each form and provides background on each print offered in the
galleries. A glossary of related terms as well as a brief bibliography of recommended
readings is also posted.

Rivera Mural Project

Maintained by the City College of San Francisco, this site focuses on
the large-scale fresco painted by Mexican artist Diego Rivera during
the 1940 Golden Gate International Exposition. The site also provides
an archival collection of historical letters, photos, and memorabilia
relating to the making of the mural, and a brief background history of
its theme and artist. Note: the Work in Progress section is only accessible
to those working within the Project.
