Locating library resources Use electronic card catalogs, cd-rom and online databases, and traditional indexes to find books and periodicals about your topic. Use specialized databases to target your search. Begin
your search before you go to the library Most libraries provide online access to their electronic card
catalogs. Some libraries require identifying information before you can access
information from a remote system. Usually, students with an identification number or
individuals with library cards can access systems remotely. Conducting preliminary research before you go to the library can
save you time. Typically, you can reserve books and search databases without leaving your
computer. You can also research library-specific information on where books and
periodicals are located within the library. In addition to an identification number, you
will need an internet connection and a computer. |
