Part 4: Foundations of Education

Using the Web: Design Your Own Professional Growth and Development Plan

Overview

The foundation of education is based on meeting the needs of learners. In order to meet these changing needs, teachers themselves must become learners in an ongoing process of professional growth and development. Many professional development tools and materials are free of charge and readily accessible on the Internet. This activity helps you determine areas in which you would like to grow and provides you with resources and tools for reaching your goals.

Explore your own professional development interests and needs, using the self-assessment checklist below. Then, use the chart on the following page to identify Internet professional development resources that match your selected areas of interest/need. So get connected, and design your own course of study for professional growth.
