The Web is always changing and evolving--new information is continually being added, new sites created, and new tools available. This is the spot for staying on top of this evolving world!
The World Wide Web, referred to as "the Web," is a revolutionary component of the Internet, the Nation's Information Superhighway -- itself a vast, worldwide system of linked information and communication networks. The Web is often described as a spiderweb-like interconnection of millions of information resources located on computers. An individual can go directly from any site to any other by clicking on "links." Materials incorporated on and accessible at Web sites includes text, graphics, video and sound. Individuals can experience and download material at any of the vast number of Web sites, and much of it is excellent for classroom learning activities and for student and teacher exploration and research. For example, many of the world's finest museums have online exhibits that students can visit directly from their classrooms simply by clicking on a link to that museum. The Web is "revolutionary" in that it has the capacity to significantly transform K-12 instruction. It enables students and teachers to have access to a vast array of information resources. The traditional textbook is essentially being superseded by a virtually limitless array of immediately accessible teaching and learning resources.
What's New of the Net identifies some of the best sites on the World Wide Web for K-12 educators. These excellent Web sites enable teachers to develop instructional approaches that significantly enhance learning experiences and benefits for all students.
