Ethics was "a key, overriding issue" that was "echoed in nearly every
part of the study." The national leaders underscored the importance of students
knowing how to apply ethical principles, acting responsibly, understanding
and having pride in U.S. citizenship, having respect for social and cultural
diversity, and mastering the skills needed to resolve disagreements civilly.
