My vision for the futureAs I learn and view our children of the world today I think about all the adult problems that they are dealing with. So much of our young children's lives are taken away so fast. The one thing that I want to do is give all children the quality education they deserve. I believe that I can make this happen from the empowerment of my mother, and current/past teachers that inspired me to over come all obstacles in life. The one event that has made a big difference in my life is being able to work with a non-profit organization whose main focus is African-American children. Working at my current job I have found what I truly am interested in: child welfare and educating our children. I first believe in helping every child and not just one race of children. From working with this organization and having fellow teachers, friends, and last but not least my mother, child welfare is my biggest concern. My whole outlook on fixing this problem and opening the doors to everyone's eyes I am still trying to figure out, through research and conferences that I have attended. Because when I am ready to proceed with this plan of action every thing needs to work and be crystal clear to me and the public. After my studies are complete I hope to be a part or maybe have my own organization working to improve education and well being of children in the lower income areas around the world. By this I mean I want them to have the same opportunities as every other child in this country and to see what is really offered out here -- besides all the violence and people not caring. This idea never would have come to me if it were not for my mother and current/past teachers. --Stacey Locker |
