Talk about Experiences

I could have never even imaged the sort of wonderful experiences I would be able to obtain because of a teacher in my college years. Dr. Boos was not only the head of the music department as well as the director of the music ensemble we sang in, he was a great inspiration. Through the two years I spent at Miami Dade Community College I was never too sure what I was actually there for. That being who I wanted to become and what I wanted to experience. Music classes filled most of my school time. I loved to sing and I enjoyed being on stage. Dr. Boos inspired me to believe that I could do anything I wanted. When we first had to audition for the class since he knew how nervous we were going to be, he auditioned for us as well. He sang and put himself out there to be judged just the same as we did. Whether I was singing Opera, Pop, Jazz or Broadway Dr. Boos always smiled and made me feel good about what style I chose to sing in. He never failed to make me feel special. Not only did he make me feel special about singing, he gave me experiences that I could never replace. He made me a lead in the Broadway production we held one year, he brought us to radio stations to do jingles, he sent myself and a few other people to sing for commercials they had on the radio for almost a year. I don’t think I could ever show him how grateful I am for giving me those irreplaceable memories. I never thought I would have had such wonderful experiences at a community college, but as far as I am concerned those were one of the best memories I will have for the rest of my life. To you Dr. Boos, where ever you are… I thank you with all of my heart. You always had high expectations for us.
