Positive Field Experience

When entering into this course I was not aware that an evaluation of a teacher would be required. However I did attend A.D. Henderson University School one day per week for 5 weeks at 3 hours per day. This experience made me aware of many different teaching styles. The teach the my experience was based around was Ms. Lewis, and I also had a chance to work with a teacher by the name of Ms. Sestrich. Both of these teachers were teachers for the kindergarten class at this school. These teachers had very different teaching styles but both were very useful to my learning experience.

I really admired these teachers because they seemed to love what they were doing. The manner in which these teachers spoke to the children was one of acceptance and love. The activities they were given seemed to be on a higher level of comprehension and this was very encouraging. Due to the fact that most teachers expect the worst from students it is very relieving to know that there are teachers who believe that all students can succeed if they try.

This experience only gave me the drive to complete my education and become a teacher. This field experience was a very rewarding one. The teachers and students that I encountered only increased my want for this profession. The teacher I worked with also told me that she has been doing this for many years and from the look in her eyes I could tell that she will be doing it for many more. The students all seem to love her and it was as if she thrived off of their acceptance as did they. This solidified that this is a job for people who love what they do not people who just want a paycheck.
