School Pays House Calls To Get Parents Involved

At a high school in Northeast Minneapolis, officials are trying to get more parents involved in their children's education. Teams of faculty have been going door to door trying to sell the idea of family participation in the schools. The visits are good for families, teachers and counselors who can meet the families and see where the students live. They have found that students are more accountable when the faculty know their parents. Officials have concluded that the most important benefit is letting students and families know they care enough to come to where they are.
