Educator Starts Charter School in DC

Patricia W. starts the "Tree of Life" charter school in Washington, DC, which will open this fall. Ms. W. proposed the charter school so that children would have the opportunity to be in a family oriented program. The proposed curriculum will include traditional and non-traditional subjects such as yoga, African drums, and gardening. Ms. W.'s goal is to provide a well rounded course of studies for the students. There will be an emphasis on teaching students about their cultural heritage. The school needs seventy-four students to enroll in order to receive funding.
